We are excited to announce that we may have the opportunity to review quite a few tablets this holiday season. Two that really excite us are the Amazon Kindle Fire and the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet. Both tablets will be available this November. Each tablet comes in under $300 and hopes to take a bite out of the iPad stronghold in the tablet market. We are looking forward to seeing how each tablet performs, and crowning the “Top Tablet of 2011.”

Just announced as the winner of the 2012 International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award, DeLorme’s inReach Satellite Communicator is a device that offers, for the first time, an affordable, two-way satellite messaging and SOS emergency communications system capable of use all around the world through the Iridium network. It is expected to be available for sale later this month.

The device will come by itself for $249. Pre-programmed messages and SOS alerts allow the device to be used by itself via its pushbutton interface, with confirmation of delivery. Remote tracking is built in as well. Pair it with an Android phone or DeLorme’s Earthmate PN- 60w GPS, and the inReach is capable of two-way messaging and interactive SOS features.
Messages sent to and from the device are sent via the Iridium satellite network, the world’s furthest-reaching network.
Along with the International CES award, the inReach was an honoree of the National Geographic Adventure Fall-Winter Gear of the Year along with the the 2011 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market trade show, Outside Magazine Gear of the Show and GearJunkie Best of Show.

It’s called Free World. The free app from slaveryfootprint.org (the survey is also available online) asks 11 questions from what jewelry you own, what you have in your closet, and of course most importantly, what gadgets you own. For example, if you use a smartphone, a tablet, or game console, you could have as many as 8.6 slaves working for you.
The goal of the app, however, is not to guilt users but in fact raise awareness about the slavery issue many people believe is a thing of the past. There are more slaves in the world today than ever in history — and estimated 27 million worldwide. After given a score, the app/website allows the user to tell their favorite retailers and manufacturers to look into any possible slave labor they use and do something about it.
I was shocked and somewhat sickened when I took the survey and found out that I potentially have FORTY-SIX slaves working for me. This is disgusting. I encourage all of our readers to take the survey online or through the free app and to continue to spread the word. Do your part.
Slavery Footprint was created by Call + Response, an anti-slavery organization, in collaboration with the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.

The iProtection line includes four all new cases specifically designed for Siri’s assistant, the iPhone 4S.
The Defender Series features a built in screen protector, heavy duty polycarbonate skeleton, and a tough silicone outer layer. The case includes a holder-style swivel belt clip.
The Reflex Series offers a slimmer fit that’s easy to remove on the fly for quick docking. The name comes from the trademark Reflex corners that absorb the impact if the phone drops to keep the phone safe. It also features a self adhering screen protector.
The Commuter Series has a similar build to the Defender Series with the polycarbonate and silicone combination construction, but it offers a much more sleek and pocketable construction. The case slides in and out of pockets, purses, etc very easily. It comes in a variety of colors and also features a self adhering screen protector.
The Impact Series is for those looking for a larger amount of protection from potential scuffs and scratches. Like the other cases, it features a self adhering screen protector.
These four new cases continue Otterbox’s reputation for bridging the gap between accessory and necessity.

Upon receiving my Z.bud sample I immediately knew they were going to be a quality, interesting product. The packaging was very well thought out and designed; far more eye catching than what you’d expect for something as simple as earphones. The earphones come with six different ear pieces to fit any ear. The cord is covered with a premium tangle free nylon cover. The actual earphones have metal casings for extra durability….
